I like the pictures of the work in progress.
I was thinking about drawing/tracing helvetica neue type on a piece of cotton rag/watercolor/bristol (haven't decided yet, depends on what rips up better), rip it, scan it, and put it on the board in photoshop.
This is just a mock up. The paper I will use is going to be white or a cream color.
I am kind of stuck. Still afraid to get paint anywhere near this, but I will get over that. I think a little bit of blue will make it pop.

i like that idea but i sill think you should physically write out what you want to say or like you said use a stencil for more defined font
I like the real board you have!! Maybe you should use real notes, and stick on it.
